Apprenticeship Success following successful Work Experience Placement
During February half-term, Worcester Sixth Form College student, Freya Ball, undertook a work experience placement as a Quantity Surveyor at Firmingers Ltd in Worcester. Since starting College, Freya has become more and more interested in pursuing a career as a Quantity Surveyor and was very excited to be given the chance to undertake a work placement of this kind.
Freya had a very successful week with Firmingers. During her time there, she got the chance to create drawings of floor plans for Argos and made several visits to retail sites around the town centre with a building surveyor. She was also given the responsibility of calculating quantities of steel for a hospice building and her report for this was used by the architect.
Following the work placement, Freya was invited back to Firmingers who were so pleased with Freya that they have offered her a 5 year Degree Apprenticeship to train to become a Quantity Surveyor, through Birmingham City University. Freya has accepted this fantastic offer and will be starting this September.
Congratulations Freya on this great achievement!
Firmingers are a new employer contact for Worcester Sixth Form College and following Freya’s success, have confirmed they will be happy to work with the College again to offer further work experience placements to benefit more students in the future.
