‘Life in Lockdown’ Competition
Our lives have all been changed by lockdown. We have heard many inspirational stories whether it be NHS workers on the front line or the tremendous achievement of Captain Tom Moore. In acknowledgement of this, our Art & Design students have used the ‘lockdown’ as an opportunity to create images in support of the NHS and Photography students have been recording their life in lockdown. We have created a gallery of these works and they have inspired us to launch a competition!
We are inviting current students and those in year 11 at local schools to be creative and submit an entry to the ‘Life in Lockdown’ competition. This can take any form that you wish, for example:
- Budding students of English Language might wish to write a poem about someone that has inspired them or how the lockdown has made them feel;
- Talented artists might wish to submit an image or short film; or
- If you are a mathematician or scientist you might want to analyse trends in behaviour during lockdown or the impact on the environment or economy.
There will be two prizes – one for a current student and one for someone currently in year 11 – both winners will receive a £50 Amazon gift card. There will be five runner up prizes of a £10 Amazon voucher.
The winning entry will be that which shows creative and initiative. Entries should be emailed to the Principal’s PA (jo.payne@wsfc.ac.uk) by noon on 30th June and will be added to our ‘Life in Lockdown’ page on our website. The winner will be contacted by email. Please note that you do not have to have made an application to the College be enter – all entries are welcomed.
